SCMP is the most direct path from UBC into a career in management consulting. Candidates who successfully graduate from the program will receive guaranteed first-round interviews with our partner firms, which have included McKinsey & Company, Boston Consulting Group, Bain & Company, Deloitte, Ernst & Young, and more¹.

Students also receive one-on-one coaching from SCMP alumni currently or previously at top consulting firms and join a cohort of 40+ highly-motivated peers from all across UBC. Many students say that the network they built at SCMP compounds far beyond the program itself.

SCMP is an intensive 2-month program that combines lectures, one-on-one alumni coaching, mock interviews, and alumni resume edits. Students build and refine fundamental skills such as casing, quantitative analysis, structuring, and behavioural interview prep.

SCMP is open to UBC students of all degrees and backgrounds, including graduate students and students from non-commerce backgrounds. For specific eligibility criteria, see here.

We look for candidates with strong academic performance, demonstrated work and leadership experiences, and strong communication skills. We also value candidates with distinctive backgrounds or who have made a significant impact on the communities around them. Learn more here.

Crucially, these experiences can come from anywhere – you do not need business or consulting experience to be accepted into SCMP.

Since 2007, SCMP has been run directly by our program alumni who volunteer their time to facilitate the program. Having currently or previously worked in consulting, they provide a unique, insider’s view into the consulting industry and interviewing process.

As a registered non-profit, SCMP is managed by our Board of Directors of senior alumni and facilitated by our alumni facilitator team.
