2026 applications are now open!

How to apply

There are four components to the application:

Application Form

You will be submitting your application through a Google Form and all required documents can be uploaded here. We’ll also be asking for basic information about yourself, such as your program, graduation year, and GPA.

There will be no short answer questions!

Academic Transcript

We will be reviewing your academic history and will need a copy of your most recent unofficial academic transcript from UBC or most recent academic institution.

A screenshot will be just fine!

1- Page Resume

Your resume will be the single largest determinant of your application so please ensure you spend time reviewing and revising it.

Ensure your resume fits into 1-page as this is the standard resume length in consulting. We have compiled resources to help you with your resume which you can find below.

Video Interview

After submitting your application, you will see a link to record your one-way video interview. It will be approximately 6 minutes long and cover 3 questions.

Our best advice is to just be yourself! We just want to get to know you a bit better.

Note: Applications submitted without a video interview will not be considered.

  1. A UBC student for Winter 2026-27 from any faculty

  2. Graduating by Summer 2027

 Analyst vs. Associate applications

The key distinction between Analyst and Associates in consulting is the education level of students that are applying to consulting firms.

Analyst

Undergraduates students and most Masters students will apply as an Analyst.

Associate

MBA, PhDs, JDs and other advanced degrees will apply as an Associate.

Candidate evaluation

The applicants to the SCMP are assessed on four main criteria.

SCMP does not have a set quota or target for the size of our cohort.  We set a very high bar that’s reflective of this very competitive industry and we will provide mentorship to any students that meet this bar. Historically, we’ve admitted 30-40 candidates each year.

Academics

It is preferred that candidates have an overall average of above 80%, with strong performance in quantitative courses, however this is NOT a hard cut-off. MBA applicants are also recommended to have written the GMAT, with a desired score of greater than 700, and candidates generally will not be considered with a score below 650. Please email us here for questions about GMAT/GRE requirments.

Professional Experiences

Leadership, teamwork, analytical abilities, performance under pressure, conflict management - these are among the essential attributes that need to be demonstrated through your previous professional experiences.

Leadership, Impact & Community Involvement

Individuals at consulting firms are deeply committed to working to improve their communities. Being involved in a club or an organization is one thing, but going above and beyond the job description to make a significant impact truly showcases what it means to be a leader.

Life Experience

Developing the best solution for a client requires a diversity of perspective. What is it about you that's different or unique? Consulting firms value people with distinctive backgrounds — whether that's competitive athletics, academic research in an unexpected field, creative pursuits, or something else entirely. What unique perspective would you bring to a team?
